Grandma’s Country Fried Steak

Steak. Gravy. What more could you want?

Grandma’s Country Fried Steak

1 small steak, about 1/2 in thick
1/2 cup + 1 tsp flour
salt and pepper
2 tbsp butter
1 tsp diced onion
1/2 cup broth or water

  1. Using a knife, score the steak on both sides. (Cut shallow slits in the steak, so that the flour really coats it and will get nice and crispy)
  2. On a plate, mix 1/2 cup flour, salt, and pepper. Coat sides of steak in flour mix.
  3. In a pan over medium heat, melt butter until bubbling. Cook steak until browned on both sides (about 3-4 mins per side).
  4. Remove steak from pan. Add onion. Brown.
  5. Mix 1 tsp flour and broth or water. Pour into pan and cook until thickened.
  6. Pour gravy over steak and enjoy!
